Politics of Guerrero

Tourism is the most dynamic economic activity in the entity and its effect contributes to the development of agriculture, fishing, livestock, forestry, industry and service industries. Tourism in Guerrero is in direct dimension to the expense of national and foreign tourists, who have created an accumulated income of over 33,543 million dollars in the last ten years. It is important to consider that since 2005, tourism is the third largest income resource, after oil exports and money sent by Mexicans living abroad. Tourism is outstanding within the economic and social development of the State of Guerrero for its dynamism, contributions and effects on local and regional productive sectors. Tourism growth, as the development factor with greatest impact in the entity is, without a doubt, the greatest challenge for the 21st century. Therefore, the economic and social agents of Guerrero establish goals, strategies, and lines of action responding to such expectations for being projected as the most profitable economic activity during the next twenty-five years. The Government of the State of Guerrero has created the Fund for the Development Program of the Software Industry (PROSOFT), consisting of temporary grants for prompting the creation, development, consolidation, viability, productivity, competition and sustainability of the companies in the technology industry and related services, as well as supporting its use in the country’s economic sectors. The Technology sector is integrated as a new productive vocation for the region and consists of a set of industries whose main economic activity in dedicated to the design, development, production and/or merchandising products, technologies and services associated to data processing and information management. This sector includes the software industry, related services and production of interactive media based on information technology. Source: Gobierno del Estado de Guerrero
