Riviera Maya is the name of an incredible tourist zone of more than 120 kilometers of coast located between Puerto Morelos and Punta Allen in the Mexican Caribbean. This natural paradise is part of the state of Quintana Roo, on the eastern side of the Yucatan Peninsula. History tells us this zone was one of the most important religious and commercial centers for the ancient Mayan civilization during the “post classic” period (between 1000 and 1550 b. C.). To understand the history of every natural and cultural site of this zone, please refer to the Mexican states of Yucatan and Quintana Roo and each of their cities. For the year of 2007, it is expected that the room offer will reach the 35,000 rooms to accommodate the 3.2 million expected tourists.
