Framed within the magnificent colonial and Prehispanic architecture of Mexico City’s Historical Center, Festival de Mexico: fmx, as it has come to be known, offers an excellent variety of world-class cultural expressions, exhibits and events for all who love the culture and arts of the world.

Fmx is organized by Festival de Mexico en el Centro Historico, considered one of the most important cultural events of Latin America; throughout its history that began in 1985, it as achieved to become a cultural boom for the country with a fame that goes beyond borders.

The program for each edition of Festival de Mexico is vast and varied. Formed by shows and events for all audiences interested in arts and culture. Its offer is thoroughly selected by specialists in each area, according to current trends and a folkloric blend of participating countries.

The official venue of fmx is Mexico City’s Historical Center, within a great variety of facilities at former convents, churches, theaters, plazas and parks that grant their particular imprint of splendor and magic. Festival de Mexico includes in its program areas dedicated to promoting a certain type of particular artistic manifestations; for example, Radar is the space dedicated to the search and promotion of all kinds of musical performances, including classic, modern and electronic music, in short, everything showing a great level of innovation and talent, contributing to general culture. Radical Mestizo focuses on the ethnical music that combines traditional music of the people with a high content of multicultural folklore. Animasivo is a contemplation of artistic creation not only through media and art’s traditional tools, but also a combination of these with electronic artifacts as means for artistic productions.

It also hosts other projects promoting the restoration of buildings at Mexico City’s Historical Center, each year selecting the project to restore with the profits obtained from fmx. The Children’s Choir of the Historical Center offers first-class concerts and XCentrico takes the arts to various delegations for gaining a greater audience and reaching the most people possible. Cinema Global promotes non-profit cinematographic arts of Mexican and foreign directors and screenwriters. Ars Electronic holds exhibits, conferences and workshops about the current state of the exciting and ever-changing world of electronics and technology.
