The Alegre Coast (La Costa Alegre)

Costa Alegre is located in the south of the State of Jalisco; it is a place where tourists can enjoy a countless number of unforgettable activities. In Costa Alegre you can find crafts from the Huichol and other ethnic groups, marvel at the enormous cliffs as the sea crashes into them, and a variety of tropical plants and animals. For those who enjoy outdoor sports, Costa Alegre has two extraordinary golf courses, Tamarindo with 18 holes and Isla de Navidad with 24.

Made of five coasts: Bahía de Navidad, Bahía de Tenacatita, Costa de Careyes, Bahía de Chamela and Costa Majahuas, predominating in Costa Alegre is the Sierra de Manatlán Biosphere, which protects 2,900 species in its 150 thousand hectares, many in danger of extinction and 50% of them unique to Mexico.

Barra de Navidad gives visitors de opportunity to practice sport fishing marlin and sailfish. Natural and marine resources are apt for snorkeling and diving in its many coral reefs and immense fauna. For intrepid visitors, Majahuas offers surfing among its strong high waves.

Bahía de Chamela seems to hold more than nine islands and islets, making it a sublime place to visit. Costa de Careyes has an unparallel beauty in its sets of beaches with different turtle varieties. Costa de Majahuas gathers beautiful gray colored beaches for camping or fishing blue crab and lobsters. Cuastecomates is a town on the coast, where the inlet weakens the water’s might, allowing a calm swim. Manzanilla is located south of Puerto Vallarta, next to a classic town and a rich flora of fruit trees, mangroves, alligators and fish.

Malenque is 300 kilometers to the southeast of Guadalajara, protected by marvelous rocks and familiar beaches, where you can fish, dive, boat ride and enjoy unforgettable sunsets. Tomatlán means “place of tomatoes”. Of mixed vegetation, it has the main salt mines of Jalisco and 45 kilometers of beaches.
Vacationing in Costa Alegre is an opportunity to practice your favorite sport, enjoy its weather, transparent waters, and ecotourism; integrating the five senses with nature, as well as admiring an impressive sunset beyond the far horizon of the Pacific Ocean.
