MICHOACAN MUSEUM
Located in a sumptuous house in Morelia, the state capital, this museum exhibits archeology belonging to the local ethnic groups, and includes ceramics, pottery, and pipes; rebel weaponry; and the library that once belonged to friar Alonso de Veracruz, which contains numerous literary treasures of Mexican History. The city of Morelia is also home to the State Museum, the Museum House of Jose Maria Morelos, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Colonial Art and the Natural History Museum.

"ROSARIO" , Sanctuary of the Monarch Butterfly
Rosario is the sanctuary for the largest "Monarch" butterfly found anywhere in the world. In the forests of Michoacan, this type of butterfly finds a shelter every winter and so avoids endangering the survival of the sub-species. The rest of the year, these creatures live in Canada and the United States. Located in the Ocampo municipality, this sanctuary is the only one that offers guided tours, which can enhance the visitors experience.

PATZCUARO LAKE
One of the best places to spend the holidays in Mexico, this lake and its islands were the place where the ancient empire of Michoacan got settled and established. The basin of the Patzcuaro is formed by 8 islands, being Janitzio the best known of them, located in the southern part of this magnificent lake, just in front of Patzcuaro town, one of the most beautiful found in all of Mexico. Yunuen island currently offers a high-end resort thanks to the joint effort of its inhabitants and state authorities; it also provides the option of renting rustic cabins managed by the natives of the area who do their best at offering the visitor the best service quality possible. The rest of the islands are called Tecuena, Tecuanita, Pacanda, Urandenes, Jaracuaro and Copujo.

MORELIA
To travel around the historic center of the late city of Valladolid means to take memory lane to colonial times. Religious intensity becomes palpable through the majestic stone cathedral that dominates the scene and through the numerous temples and churches located in its surroundings.

The capital city of Michoacan de Ocampo, Morelia is a noble and proud city, where monuments and buildings stand testimony to its past greatness in times of the viceroyalty. Some of the most important places in the city include the Regional Museum of Michoacan, the Temple of La Merced, the Church and Convent of San Francisco, the Palace of Justice, the Municipal Palace, the Cathedral, the Communal Park, the Main Square and the equestrian statue of patriot Jose Maria Morelos.
