Governament of Zacatecas

Since 2004, at the head of the government of the State of Zacatecas is Amalia Dolores García, daughter of former state governor Francisco Espartaco García Estrada. She graduated from Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico with a Bachelor’s Degree on Sociology, in addition to a History Degree from Universidad Autonoma de Puebla. She started in politics within the ranks of Partido Comunista Mexicano, where she was part of the State leadership, as well as Partido Socialista Unificado de Mexico and Partido Mexicano Socialista, until the foundation of Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD) of which she is currently a member and has presided nationwide. She has also been Federal Deputy from 1988 to 1991, Assembly Holder at Mexico City from 1991 to 1994 and Counselor of the first Human Rights Commission in the country’s capital. In 1997 she was elected Senator and in 2004 she was named Constitutional Governor for the State of Zacatecas for the term 2004-2010. GOVERNOR Lic.
